Salticus cingulatus is fairly widely distributed in Britain but is only locally common. It is found in sunny situations in a variety of habitats, usually near woodland or heathland. In the southwest, the Spider Recording Scheme holds records from only two hectads, one in Devon and the other from Somerset. There is a single ERCCIS record from Lantic Bay made in August 1991, but this needs confirmation.
