Xysticus lanio is widespread in southern and eastern England but there are few records from the southwest. It is usually found on bushes or young trees in woodland. The Spider Recording Scheme holds records from Ruan Lanihorne but the species has not been found in Cornwall since 1973. The ERCCIS record dates from 1941 and requires confirmation.
