Anyphaena accentuata (colloquially known as the 'Buzzing spider') bears a characteristic black mark on the dorsal side of its abdomen. It is one of the few British species of spider that can be identified unequivocally with the naked eye. The spider hunts for prey among vegetation and is common. During courtship, the male vibrates his abdomen against a leaf emitting a buzzing sound. Anyphaena accentuata occurs in woodland, and also in gardens among bushes. It is likely to prove to be common in Cornwall, especially in the east.
