Coelotes atropos occurs throughout England and Wales but is much more common in the west than in the east. There are, however, no records from mainland Vice County 1 West Cornwall at all (the only VC1 record was made in St. Agnes, Scilly Isles in 1992). It has not been recorded from VC2 East Cornwall since 1997. Coelotes atropos constructs a simple silk-lined tube under stones and logs, and in crevices in wood and rocks. This cryptic lifestyle may be the reason for the lack of records.
