Tegenaria silvestris is an outdoor species found in damp woodland, under stones and fallen trees and other similar habitats. It is locally distributed in southern England and Wales but there are only a handful of records from Cornwall. I have checked specimens from Pendeen (Geevor Tin Mine) and St. Austell and both were definitely Tegenaria silvestris. The male palps and female epigynes of Tegenaria silvestris are distinctive and are unlikely to be confused with other Tegenaria species.
