Pisaura mirabilis is known as the Nursery Web spider. The female carries the egg sac in her mouthparts and when the young emerge, she constructs a tent-like web in tall grass in which she 'guards' her offspring until they begin their independent lives. Pisaura mirabilis is a very common spider and will probably be recorded from most tetrads in Cornwall.
