Gibbaranea gibbosa spins an orb web in trees, especially Yew and other evergreens. It is fairly common in southern England but there are only two records from Cornwall. The ERCCIS record is from Ruan Lanihorne made in June 1966. The Spider Recording Scheme record is from salt marsh on the Fal Estuary made in July 1966 (hardly a typical habitat for this species!). It would be good to have more recent confirmation of its presence in Cornwall.
