Micrargus apertus has been recorded from most parts of Britain but is scarce in the South. It is typically found in similar habitats to Micrargus herbigradus i.e. moss and leaf litter in woodland. In June 1995, it was recorded from Pendeen near St. Just (not noted for its trees!). Micrargus apertus seems to be rare in the County.
