Acartauchenius scurrilis is Nationally Scarce (Notable A) with records from less than ten hectads in southern England. It occurs in the nests of the ant Tetramorium caespitum on dry heathland. In Cornwall, there are old (before 1951) literature records from Rame Head (mapped) and Kynance Cove (not mapped). Ant nests in Cornwall are probably home to several species of spider (including Acartauchenius scurrilis) although it is a habitat not often sampled.
