Trichopterna thorelli is not particularly common in Britain although it is widely distributed. It is found at ground level in moist habitats. In Cornwall, Trichopterna thorelli has been recorded from several sites on the Lizard Peninsula (all from 1968), Redmoor Nature Reserve (1978) and, more recently, from Bodmin Moor (1997).
