Peponocranium ludicrum is reasonably common in coastal sites in Cornwall although there are few inland records. The most recent record is from Tregantle Fort, Anthony made in April 1996. The male of Peponocranium ludicrum has a highly distinctive 'bulging' head, hence the specific name ludicrum (although ludicrous is not a name I would personally apply to any spider!).
