Baryphyma pratense is a local species with an apparent easterly bias to its distribution in southern Britain. The Cornish record is interesting as it is 'out on a limb' being the only locality for this species in southern England west of Dorset. Also, the record is dated 29 October 1981 which is very late in the year. In the bar chart in the SRS Atlas (Harvey et al. 2002), there are no records after September. The habitat (acid wetland on Bodmin Moor) is typical but this record is in need of confirmation.
