Walckenaeria alticeps is a scarce species in Britain. It is almost identical in appearance to Walckenaeria antica and the two taxa have been confused in the past. There is one unconfirmed record from Cornwall from Bodmin Moor dated July 1997 (shown as a yellow dot on the map). It is possible that some records for Walckenaeria antica may be Walckenaeria alticeps. Records for Walckenaeria alticeps cannot be accepted by the Spider Recording Scheme (SRS) unless they have been validated by the SRS Expert Panel.
