Theridion melanurum is common in most of England but appears to be rare in the west. The only record in the Provisional Atlas of Spiders (Harvey et al. 2002) was from Wacken Wood, St. Anthony made in April 1996 but there are four ERCCIS records from further west, mostly dated in the 1970s. In November 2005, I found mature females around window frames in my house in Pendeen, and the Gents toilet at the National Trust car park at Kynance Cove (my wife also collected a specimen from the Ladies!).
