Ero tuberculata is a Nationally Scarce (Notable B) species that is only found south of a line from the Severn to the Wash. It is one of the 'pirate spiders' that invades the webs of other spiders and preys on them. Most records have been from mature heathland although it has also been found in fens and buildings. Ero tuberculata is extremely rare in Cornwall and has only been found in the Padstow area. There have been no definite records since 1969 although there are unconfirmed reports from Marazion and the Isles of Scilly in the early 20th century.
