All members of the genus Arrhopalites have only one ocellus on each side of the head. Arrhopalites bifidus is very similar to Arrhopalites sericus. In fact the only difference between the two species is that the female subanal appendages of Arrhopalites bifidus are split down the middle whereas those of Arrhopalites sericus are feather-like at the ends.
     The only record for
Arrhopalites bifidus is that of Harold Gough (1978) who found a single female in humus on Ulva, north west Scotland. However, I have not been able to examine the specimen.
