Xenylla boerneri is widely-distributed and is probably present throughout our region. It is a small bluish grey species up to 0.7 mm in length. The eyes have 5+5 ocelli and the post-antennal organ (PAO) is absent. The ventral sides of abd3 and abd4 possess a strongly-reduced tenaculum and furca respectively (Fig. 1). These structures are difficult to see except in cleared specimens viewed at high magnification (X1000) under oil immersion. Records to date are from dry habitats, mostly moss on boulders or trees.
