Bagnall (1940) said that Tomocerus minutus was 'a not uncommon little insect in Scotland' but he gave no further details and there are no specimens in the NHML slide collection. The only other records are by Miles (1993, 1998) but these need to be confirmed. The maximum length is 2.0 mm, the antennae are relatively short, and the mucro is between one third and a quarter as long as the dens. The mucro has a maximum of only three medial teeth. Tomocerus minutus should be looked for in mountainous regions.
