Desoria infuscata (formerly Isotoma infuscata) is a rare species described from Moor House National Nature Reserve by Murphy (1959). Unfortunately the types appear to have been lost. The only specimen in the NHML collection was collected from Little Langdale by Theresa Clay in 1962 and identified by Arne Fjellberg. However it is now in very poor condition and is unidentifiable.
     The characteristic features include very short abdominal setae, outer maxillary lobe with bifurcate palp, and a mucro with four teeth and a lateral seta. It should be searched for in Sphagnum bogs in northern England, Scotland and Ireland.
