Entomobrya albocincta is widespread and very common. It is most frequently found under bark but is present in many other sites. The body pattern is highly distinctive and it is one of the few species of Collembola which can be identified unequivocally with a hand lens.
The specimens in the photographs (Figs. 1 and 2) are from a garden in Reading and are 1.5 mm in length. The longest individual I have seen was 2.2 mm.
